I still haven't bought a strobe tuner yet, and so far I've been going back and forth between bidding on a vintage Conn on eBay or buying a Peterson virtual strobe tuner. Seems like clean Conns go for almost as much -- if not more, in some cases -- than the Petersons do. Today I came across the Peterson Stroboflip, which seems to be a pretty handy device. Just wondering if anybody here has tried it out? I note that Peterson has apparently discontinued the VS-II, replacing it with the VSAM. Dunno if I need all the VSAM offers, but the features and size of the Stroboflip appeal to me. Best, Michael |

Wow I like the looks of the new one, I have a VSAM and it's a great tool but it's pretty big and I'd love to have something smaller for the shop... -Paul- |

Dang I did not know this was on the drawing board. This is what I would have bought if I had known. I have the VSII and love it. |

All the "ds" models are of the same accuracy level. They differ in storage and presets. I just bought the "flip" version for friend as a Birthday gift and he really likes it. They also sell a "pedal" strobe tuner. They all are digital "strobes" so they are not as visually accurate a "real" strobe. Peterson makes several great "real" strobes in their "400" Series. Any one of which is great. I have the 490ST and wouldn't trade it for anything. It's a little costly but you only buy it once. It works really well. I know most folks can't hear that accurate, BUT it makes doing the job easier AND if my intonation work comes out a little better...than to ME it's worth it. p.s. Had a DS-1 and sold it cheap to a friend. Bought a DS-2 which I keep in my show room for tune ups. |

John, I bought one just like it a couple of months ago. Wish I'd have know about yours, I paid a lot more than $100.00 for it. ![]() |

i second dave's comments about perterson's true strobes. when my old conn gave up the ghost recently that is what i opted for as a replacement. and they are often available on ebay at a resonable price. if i wanted something smaller i would go for the campbell strobe over the peterson vs line. a bit more money for a better machine. |
